Class Descriptions

Aerial Happy Hour Jam

Join us the second Friday of every month for a 90 minute class that explores choreography, musicality, and the versatility of aerial apparatuses. We will learn a sequence that is set to music. This sequence can be done on two apparatuses to show the similarities between equipment. The sequences are designed for beginners but it is recommended that students have a few classes of aerial. All sequences will have add-ons for more advanced students.

Beginner/Intermediate Hoop

Lyra or hoop is a fun circular apparatus that allows you to sit in it as you learn a new skill. This is a great way to build up that strength; don't feel intimidated! Do make sure your knees are covered and get ready to swing spin and look amazing.

Beginning Sling

Aerial sling is kind of the gate-way apparatus to aerial dance. It is a low hanging hammock type set-up that is comfortable safe and doesn't require the same amount of strength or coordination that aerial fabric does. In this class we will explore connections to the floor traveling upwards and building up that core and arm strength needed for the other apparatuses.

Dance Trapeze

Explore the world of the horizontal apparatus with us in this fun new class! Don't think of the flying trapeze where you release the bar to be caught mid-air. Dance trapeze stays close to the ground and is rigged from a single point for spinning orbiting and swinging. With the metal bar for support it is a great beginner apparatus. The ropes offer a variety of transitions and beautiful poses. The trapeze becomes a dance partner as you learn to flip and fly.

Fitness for Flight ONLINE

Fitness for Flight will focus on strengthening the muscles commonly used in aerial. This ONLINE class will utilize items you have in your home! We will perform a variety of conditioning exercises as well as movements to work on increasing strength and flexibility in and off of the aerial apparatuses. This class is a wonderful introduction to aerial and a great way to help achieve your aerial goals! We use Zoom to stream classes live. Zoom is available as an app for phone uses and a website for laptop and desktop users. After you sign up you will be sent a URL via email. Click on that and you will be taken directly to the class! Recommended items to have for class are 1) Strap 2) Floor Slider 3) Hands weights 4) yoga block 5) wooden dowel 6) Pull up bar. If you do not have some of these items don't worry! We have options for substitutions.

Sling Things

Put your creative powers to work with an aerial theory based online class. Instructors take you through different skills on the sling, breaking down the movement and muscles so you can gain a better understanding for WHY it works. Look at pathways into and out of tricks and create your own sequences with fun prompts. Then, watch as your instructor brings those sequences to life. Discover how to choreograph and problem solve in the air!

Intermediate Lyra

This intermediate-advanced level class builds on skills learned in the beginning classes. We look at more creative sequencing and dynamic movements. You will learn twists and drops. You will begin building your beat game. And you'll have more opportunities to create your own sequences and make your own aerial discoveries!

Beginning Silks

Exciting athletic and empowering aerial dance is fantastic as both a physical activity and a creative movement outlet. There is no experience necessary for beginning aerial. Anna works with students close to the ground building strength awareness and confidence through conditioning and routine building. Anna creates progressions into the beginning session so students are both safe and comfortable as they explore these new vertical heights.

Intermediate Silks

Building off of Level 1 skills Level 2 Aerial Silks focuses more on inversions strength building and creating longer sequences in the air. Requirements are as follows: proficient in Basic and Russian climbs ability to tie footlocks in the air and invert in the air.

Intermediate Sling

Once you discover how awesome aerial sling is work your way into Sling 2! Here students learn more complex moves and sequences. This class involves dynamic level changes from the floor to the ceiling as well as more inversions unassisted. But you will also learn the really cool things - like flips drops and swings! Pre-reqs include: hip-rollover invert from standing on the sling and ability to be in the air for 2 minutes.

Friday Flow Jam

Every Friday we are hosting a flow jam in our space! Avoid the cold enjoy the ceiling height and great company practice your awesome skills! Feel free to drop in or sign up ahead of time. We have lots of space for you to spin poi juggle hoop etc. We will provide some props for use but recommend that you bring your own. This isn't a class but a great way to meet and train with the local flow arts community skill share with peers and gain inspiration. (Note: there will be no aerial equipment in use during this time)

This class is exactly what it sounds like! Pour a glass of your favorite wine (or not) and join us virtually for a little bit of whining, a little bit of stretching, and hopefully quite a bit of laughter and helping lift each other up. Basically, a straight up whining and stretching and socializing hour. Alcohol is not required, floor space is not required. Bonus, this class is free!

Open Gym

Open gym allows you to use the equipment at your own pace to work on things from class. It is not for learning new things. Only current students who have taken at least 3 classes or private lessons are allowed to join open gym. Current students are defined as taking at least 1 class every 3 weeks. (please email us if you are unsure if you qualify). Equipment is limited so it is encouraged to register ahead and be courteous when you are in the gym.
